Get to Know
Our Cattle
Cows
We have a variety of colors and breeds. Generally mostly red and black Angus, with some Shorthorns, Hereford and Simmental in the mixing, to help create the large rump.
The temperament of the animals has always been a main focus. To shift animals, we can quite often open the gate and call them through.
Young calves are raised on their mothers up until mum is due again.
We only drench when its really really necessary, as the mixed species pastures can provide some natural medicines. The rotational grazing helps the plants recover more quickly, which in turn will help the soil biology and the environment.
Bulls
We use 2 different bulls to join our cows naturally. The small one for the heifers and the bigger fella for the cows. Both are very quiet and approachable.
